You need a representative that will support your ideas, fight for the needs of your community and earn your respect. For someone who truly cares for your community, look no further.
If we join together and make our voices heard, we can fight for the change you want to see!
Voting serves all of us. Thank you for your commitment.
As we turn our minds to this year’s municipal election, I would like to thank Ward 11 Councillor George Carlson for his service to our community as he has made the decision to retire. On October 24, 2022, our community needs to elect a new representative. I am running to be your new Councillor because I have the experience, knowledge and dedication to get things done. And just like you I live in Ward 11 too. We are in very challenging times in the City of Mississauga as we recover from the COVID pandemic and re-focus on issues like infrastructure, development, transportation, affordable housing and keep property taxes low. Together with the Mayor and other Members of Council, I will work tirelessly to represent our community’s best interests and continue to help build Mississauga as a complete city for residents and businesses.
As an active resident of Streetsville, former MP for Mississauga-Streetsville and someone who knows and understands the City of Mississauga and Region of Peel Governments, I can hit the ground running on day one to serve Ward 11 on Council.
I have lived and volunteered my whole life in Mississauga working with many groups and individuals to make lives better. And I have direct experience working in Government and a track record for getting things done.
Allow me put my close to 40 years of community involvement to work for you. On October 24, 2022 I ask for your support to build on our past successes and create an exciting future.
My Commitment to You on Issues Important to us All
On October 24, 2022, the residents of Ward 11 will elect a new Councillor. Let me put my close to 40 years’ experience in the community to work for you. Our Councillor serves at both the City of Mississauga and Region of Peel levels of government and needs to work with the Mayor and Members of Council to get things done. I have worked with them all in the past and look forward to representing you with them right away.
I am committed to seeking increased investments in local infrastructure including roads, sidewalks, bridges, parks and community amenities. Established neighbourhoods like most in Ward 11 deserve the same treatment as brand-new developments.
I am committed to keeping taxes low. Half of your property tax bill is controlled by the City and Region while the other 50% is for education. Mississauga and Peel must do a better job keeping costs in line, seeking greater efficiencies, and working with the other levels of government to fund important programs and services.
Ward 11 is a prime location for infill development. However, it must reflect the character of our neighbourhoods in well-established communities. I am committed to working with the community and residents’ associations to ensure new development in our neighbourhoods works. I support establishing architectural criteria for new homes in Ward 11 and protecting our heritage districts.
I am committed to heritage protection. Ward 11 is home to the historic districts of Streetsville and Meadowvale Village. Along with local committees, I will work to preserve and enhance our heritage areas for many, many years to come.
I fully support the women and men of Peel Regional Police. As the Founding Chair of the Mississauga Crime Prevention Association and Safe City Mississauga, I am committed to ensuring public involvement in community safety. As a member of the Mississauga Traffic Safety Council, I have conducted dozens of site inspections in Ward 11 to ensure our children are safe going to and from school.
The environment belongs to us all. I am committed to seeing the City of Mississauga Climate Change Action Plan fully implemented and work with the other orders of Government in addressing climate change and adaptation. In addition, I am committed to seeing the expansion and improvements along the Credit River on the Culham Trail for everyone to enjoy.
I am committed to finding new and innovative solutions to providing affordable housing in Mississauga. I will work with all levels of government to address this issue and use my more than 20 years experience in the rental housing industry to make things happen. As President of the Greater Toronto Apartment Association, I advocated strongly for more housing allowance programs which given direct assistance to people to afford their housing.
Traffic, Transportation & Gridlock
This continues to be a key concern in Ward 11. I am committed to innovative solutions to our traffic issues. We need new ideas to address traffic calming and speeding and expand bike lanes in appropriate areas in consultation with the community.
Supporting our Businesses
Local business is the backbone of Mississauga’s economy. It creates good jobs for our residents and contributes greatly to our tax base. I am committed to continue to work with the Streetsville Business Improvement Association as I have done for many years as well as individual businesses to ensure they succeed and grow in Mississauga.
This is MY COMMITMENT to you. I need your support on October 24, 2022, so we can get things done!
